Privacy Policy

Recode is built to be private by design. The App has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. We (the developer of Recode) do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information.

We do not collect names, email addresses, contact information, location data, browsing history, usage analytics, or advertising identifiers. We have no servers that receive or store your personal data.

Everything the App needs is stored locally on your device, including your blocking schedules, quick block sessions, selected apps and categories, unlock code and hint, streak history, and settings such as Strict Mode. This data never leaves your device and we have no ability to access it.

Recode uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity) to block apps and display usage reports. The apps you select are represented by anonymous tokens that do not reveal their identity to us. Usage reports are rendered by Apple's system in a sandboxed extension that cannot transmit data. Your Screen Time data is processed entirely on your device under Apple's privacy protections.

Recode requests camera access solely to scan barcodes and QR codes for the unlock code feature. Scanning happens in real time on your device. No photos or videos are captured, stored, or transmitted, and no scanned content leaves your device.

Payments and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the In-App Purchase system. We never receive or store your payment details. Apple's handling of your purchase information is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Recode is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided personal information in connection with the App, contact us and we will assist.

Because all data is stored only on your device, deleting the App permanently deletes all of its data. We cannot recover it for you, and no copy exists anywhere else. Note that if Strict Mode is enabled, the App cannot be deleted while a block is active.

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA grant rights over personal data held about you. Since we do not collect or hold any personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete, or port — your data is already fully in your control on your device. If our data practices ever change, we will update this Privacy Policy and its effective date in the App before the change takes effect. Continued use of the App after an update indicates your acceptance of the revised policy.
